Henri Toivonen driving an Opel Manta 400 won his first rally in nearly three years (1980 RAC) to claim the 1983 Rothmans Manx International Rally.

It was a good event for the sponsors as Toivonen's team-mate Ari Vatanen finished second and Rothmans nearly got a clean sweep of the podium, only for Jimmy McRae to retire his Manta with a broken halfshaft early on day two.
