Ford GT Heritage Edition with 838hp
Performance Power of West Palm Beach, Florida is becoming increasingly well-known for building ridiculous high-horsepower sports cars. They specialize in turbocharging and supercharging street cars from Mustang GTs to Ford GTs, getting horsepower up to dizzying levels. Modifications range from high-quality bolt-on aftermarket parts to full custom hand-built turbos, nitrous and even clutches and transmissions.
We had a chance to see 2 of their Ford GTs at Supercar Weekend 2009 (Review), (Pictures). The Heritage Edition was modified to produce 838 horsepower at the rear wheels. It consistently runs 10 seconds flat in the quarter mile, with a trap speed of 132 mph.
2006 Ford GT Twin Turbo with 1700hp
Their absolutely insane white and blue 2006 Ford GT on hand was pushing upwards of 1700 horsepower, with almost every piece having to be custom designed and fabricated.
It took a full year, and big big $$$ (see video below) to build. Performance Power are going for the world record in the standing mile with this car. They also plan on running it to a top speed of 300 mph, which would make it the world’s fastest street car. You really have to see it up close to appreciate the level of engineering and workmanship that went into producing this monster supercar. It is an absolute work of art.
While 300 mph at Bonneville sounds optimistic, I can see this car breaking the standing mile record. To put it in perspective, in the standing mile, an F1 car will hit 200 mph, and an F-18 Hornet will hit 300 mph. Performance Power expects to hit 250 mph!!! In well under 30 seconds.
Now that is FAST!!
If you are looking to really make big horsepower from your Ford GT or SVT Cobra, or Lamborghini for that matter, we highly recommend you call Performance Power.
Check out the interview where Performance Power owner Johnny talks about the 2 cars, and details the amount of work that went into the Twin Turbo Ford GT.
